RLMS Athletics

Rice Lake Middle School’s athletics program gives students a fun, supportive way to get involved and feel connected to their school. Participating in sports helps build school pride and creates a sense of belonging, while games and events bring students, staff, and families together. Middle school sports also help students discover activities they enjoy, encouraging healthy habits and a love of being active.

Being active through sports can help students stay focused, improve memory, and do better in the classroom. It also teaches important life skills like time management as students learn to balance schoolwork with practices and games. The dedication and responsibility required in sports often carry over into better study habits and stronger academic performance.

Athletics also support physical health by improving fitness, coordination, and overall well-being. Just as importantly, sports help students build confidence, manage stress, and develop resilience. Working with teammates teaches communication, cooperation, and leadership, while also creating lasting friendships. Through athletics, students learn valuable lessons about effort, respect, sportsmanship, and perseverance—helping them grow both on and off the field.
